Scaling up with a Culture of High Employee Engagement | Emplify >

My copy of Scaling Up by Verne Harnish looks nothing like it did when it first arrived at my door. Aside from enduring the abuse of spilled coffee and Indiana humidity, every other page is dog-eared for easy future reference, compelling passages are dressed in bright yellow highlighter and my notes in the margins make some pages appear as one, solid block of ink.

The magic of Scaling Up, I’ve found, is most people’s copy of the book resembles mine. Over time, readers weave Scaling Up’s key philosophies into the fabric of their businesses to create a living, breathing organization that would not otherwise exist. The wisdom found in Scaling Up is personal to me for this reason. It has provided the strategic framework upon which we clarified vision, strategy, and priorities for teams in every department here at Emplify. In my mind, Emplify is inseparable from the philosophies found in Scaling Up.

Since its 2014 publication, Scaling Up has gone from a business book to a global powerhouse. Author Verne Harnish and his team provide executive education and strategic planning resources to “Gazelles:” high-performance companies that grow exponentially every year while remaining agile and nimble. Anyone who has worked for or led a “Gazelle” knows this is easier said than done because complexity follows hard on the heels of growth. And without Scaling Up’s philosophies to manage the four major decisions every company must get right, complexity usually evolves into chaos.

The “Big Four” types of decisions that Scaling Up describes include People, Strategy, Execution, and Cash decisions. The principle of continually gathering data to inform decision-making is woven into every section. Evolving from gut-based, intuitive decision-making to data-driven, informed decision-making is the foundation of our approach to employee engagement at Emplify. How can we make good people decisions without data? And how do we scale if we’re not equipped to make those decisions? The answer to those questions is: we can’t. It’s impossible for a business to scale to its full potential if its people are disengaged at work.

Scaling and employee engagement are two sides of the same coin, which is why I’m thrilled to announce that Scaling Up has named Emplify its official employee engagement partner for 2019. Fusing the Scaling Up methodology with Emplify’s solution to measure and strategically improve employee engagement will supply the inertia and clarity required to power businesses out of the doldrums of growth and toward a future of high-growth and high-performance.

On March 26th at 1:00 p.m. EDT, I’ll sit down with author and Scaling Up CEO Verne Harnish to dive deeper into strategies for making better people decisions in a first-of-its-kind webinar. We’ll discuss how successful business leaders are scaling their organizations by creating cultures of high employee engagement and answer a series of questions that keep leaders up at night, regardless of business size:

  • How do I create a highly engaged workforce of high performers?
  • How do I build a data-driven people strategy?
  • How can I decrease turnover and increase productivity at every level of the org chart?
  • How do I bolster my employer brand to attract and hire best-in-class talent?

You won’t want to miss the chance to learn how to scale your business by creating a culture of high employee engagement — and discover how those two transformations go hand-in-hand. Register here to reserve your seat at the table for “Scaling Up with Employee Engagement.”

Until then,
Santiago
